ASL Structure

Categories
 
ASL is organized around three main user categories - workers, business and youth. Each category is subdivided into subcategories. See tables of subcategories and services for workers, business, and youth.

Subcategories
 
ASL subcategories are broad groupings of services that address a variety of customer needs. An office listed in ASL may provide one or all services to various customers.

Services
 
Services are specific opportunities, resources, or kinds of assistance that an office may be able to provide to a customer.

ASL Providers

Job Corps
 
America’s largest residential training program for economically disadvantaged youth between the ages of 16 and 24. Job Corps students spend an average of seven months learning skills for more than 100 occupations, as well as reading, math, employability skills development, and safety and health skills. Employers can seek out job corp graduates, too.

One-Stop Centers
 
Americans who are at least 18 years old can receive free services at One-Stop Centers, over the telephone, or on the Internet. Anyone can get core services such as job-search and job-placement assistance, including career counseling and a basic assessment of one’s skills and needs, as well as some follow-up services. Workers who have been laid off can get help obtaining Unemployment Insurance benefits. In addition, a gold mine of information on job vacancies, skill requirements, and labor market trends is easily accessible at the click of a computer key.

This feature identifies offices that provide the specific services a user needs.

Nearest One-Stop Search
 
This feature identifies the nearest comprehensive service office for all employment and benefits needs.

Office Search
 
This feature finds other non one-stop offices such as libraries, senior centers, etc.

Keyword Search
 
This feature is useful if searching for offices providing specific services, by entering a search word(s) (i.e. - jobs, unemployed, layoff etc).

Maps
 
This feature finds offices like local One-Stop Career Centers, Senior Centers, Job Corp Centers and more on the map by selecting a State from the map.
